Today
South Milwaukee Yacht Club is located between the cities of Milwaukee and Racine, Wisconsin. It is a great jump off point to cruise the waters and western regions of Lake Michigan. More than 50 years of boating heritage is still reflected today in our memberships commitment to family, friends and fellowship.
We have a harbor accommodating some 95 boats on a 14 acre site, all of which is wholly sustained, funded and maintained through the efforts of our club members.

News
As the 2010 boating weighs anchor SMYC has permanent and temporary boat slips available plus accommodation for trailerable boats.
Transient boat slips are available for overnight/weekend stays. There is a modern gas dock and a club house with full bathroom facilities available 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Way back When:
November 13th 1950 saw Secretary for state Fred. Z. Zimmerman approve the go ahead to incorporate the South Milwaukee Yacht Club to "develope and encourage boating, sailing and yacht building. The following October saw Mayor Charles Plotz of South Milwaukee approve lands for the new club opposite the city water plant.

Promising Future:
The city of South Milwaukee has granted an extension of our lease so that a 50 year tradition will continue.
Continual development and improvements to the grounds and club house will make SMYC a place to visit, relax and catch up with old friends.
You will always have a warm and friendly welcome and 2008 saw the completion of great out door facilities, fish station and new landscaping.
Proud Past:
Club members, entirely through their own efforts and fund raising have built the club and its facilities into a thriving boating facility whilst remaining true to the original charter terms.
1952 saw the construction of the original club house:
1967 brought additions of a porch and interior refurbishing:
1971 additions were made to the rear of the club as membership grew:
1989 gave the club a new function hall, bar facilities veranda and showers:
1994/5 a new gas dock and additional mooring places with new piers were added:
In recent years the club has provided facilities to the South Milwaukee Fire/Rescue Boat ensuring safer and more protected local waters:
2006 saw a new outdoor Gazebo and Fish Cleaning Station plus significant landscapping around the grounds and entrance.

We encourage local kids to come check out the opportunities with our community sailing program
As part of the South Milwaukee community the yacht club has a number of on going projects that it is proud to support.

Junior Program
For many years South Milwaukee Yacht Club has maintained and promoted an active junior sailing program open to local youngsters.
This program encourages any local youngsters who have an interest in Lake Michigan and sailing to come to the club and join the summer program. The club operates a fleet of Vanguard "Flying Junior" sail boats.

Instruction and the use of the dinghies is free and the program lasts throughout the summer boating season.
You can contact the Juniors at www.SMYCJUNIORS@YAHOO.COM

Safe Boating Program
During the winter months the club hosts and participates in a Safe Boating Program to encourage responsibility and safety on the waters of Lake Michigan.

South Milwaukee Police and Fire boat.
In order to promote further safety for all boaters and fishermen the club , has in recent years, donated harbor space to the South Milwaukee Police and Fire boat.
School and Community

Fishing.
