Quick View of SMYC: South Milwaukee Yacht Club is located between the cities of Milwaukee and Racine, Wisconsin. It is a great jump off point to cruise the waters and western regions of Lake Michigan. More than 50 years of boating heritage is still reflected today in our commitment to family, friends and fellowship. We have a harbor accommodating some 95 boats on a 14 acre site, all of which is wholly sustained, funded and maintained through the efforts of our club members.Continual development and improvements to the grounds and club house make SMYC a place to visit, relax and catch up with old friends. Past:
Club members, entirely through their own efforts and fund raising have built the club and its facilities into a thriving boating facility whilst remaining true to the original charter terms. 1952 saw the construction of the original club house: 1967 brought additions of a porch and interior refurbishing: 1971 additions were made to the rear of the club as membership grew: 1989 gave the club a new function hall, bar facilities veranda and showers: 1994/5 a new gas dock and additional mooring places with new piers were added: In recent years the club has provided facilities to the South Milwaukee Fire/Rescue Boat ensuring safer and more protected local waters: 2006 saw a new outdoor Gazebo and Fish Cleaning Station plus significant landscapping around the grounds and entrance. 2010 the club installed a mobile boat lift, allowing easy launch/storage capability You will always have a warm and friendly welcome. 2008 saw the completion of great out door facilities, fish station and new landscaping. SMYC continually upgrade the boating, and club house facilities available to all members and visitors alike. |

to expect as a Member of S.M.Y.C. SMYC has a 96 slip harbor than can accommodate vessels up to 44ft and a 15ft beam. A clubhouse with picturesque views of Lake Michigan is host to many year round fun events. The hall is available for members and private use. An outdoor Gazebo provides lots of space for summer fun events. Modern showers and bathroom facilities are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Use of pump out facilities is free to all members. A modern fuel dock and transient slips are always available. A recently installed "Fish Station" has added more enjoyment to SMYC's active fishing program: Launch ramp with on-site trailer parking facilities. Dues are kept to a minimum by our Co-Op style membership program: Membership requires a certain amount of volunteer work. This could be running social events, facilities maintenance or committee work. The experience is fun and builds life long relationships with people having common interests. |

2010
saw the aquisition of a Travelling Boat Hoist making haul out and launch
a seamless event. SMYC has a very active year round calendar with fun events, parties and impromtu get togethers no matter what the weather is doing. Sailing
Club For many years South Milwaukee Yacht Club has maintained and promoted an active junior sailing program open to local youngsters. This program encourages any local youngsters who have an interest in Lake Michigan and sailing to come to the club and join the summer program. The club operates a fleet of Vanguard "Flying Junior" sail boats. Instruction and the use of the dinghies is free and the program lasts throughout the summer boating season. We encourage local kids to come check out the opportunities with our community sailing program. |
Fishing SMYC has a very active fishing program as well as sponsoring a number of club events and competitions with local clubs. 2006 saw the completion of a "state of the art" fish cleaning station. Transient fishermen are more than welcome to "tie up" and visit the club house. There is a "modern fish station" and plenty of fresh ice avaialble. There are "cold ones" available in the bar should you require refreshment. |
